Deep garnet red with a ruby hue. Reserved on the nose with some aged characteristics, starting off with forest floor notes, damp leaves, even a touch of brett. Notes of black cherry undertones as well. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Still a baby that needs some air to open up. A bit savory on the palate with strong element of cherries throughout. Very dry and long finish.
This is RdV's Merlot led blend made up of 44% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in 65% new French oak barrels.
