Medium ruby red. Layered nose with vanilla, toasted cinnamon, twigs, graphite, smokey, popcorn and blackberries too. Moderate tannins (5/10) and medium plus body. Dark red fruits on the palate; black berries, black currants, a bit purple and dry. Black pepper in the medium finish.
Second of the three reds we received from Assuli Winery. This bottling is made of 100% Nero d'Avola, is a red varietal commonly found on the island of Sciliy. Additionally this wine is Terre Siciliane IGT which is the same as DOC or Denominazione di Origine Controllata. Aged in around 3 or 4 months in stainless steel sur lees and then gets an additional 3 or 4 months in the bottle.
