2013 Assuli Winery Besi

Deep garnet red. Very floral attack on the nose with some blackberries, tobacco, cinnamon and vanilla. Moderate tannins (6/10) and moderate acidity (6/10). Well rounded and medium bodied. Layered with leather, spicey herbs, basil, cherry tomatoes and light baking spices. Medium plus finish. Great value Italian red.
Last of the three reds we received from Assuli Winery, but only one from their Premium line-up. This bottling is made of 100% Nero d'Avola. Additionally this wine is Terre Siciliane IGT which is the same as DOC or Denominazione di Origine Controllata. Aged for 18 months in large oak barrels and an additional 6 months in bottle.
