2014 Flora Springs Chardonnay Flora's Legacy
This was the last of the three Chardonnays we got from Flora Springs Winery for #ChardonnayDay. Slightly lighter in color than the Jon Nathaniel Chardonnay. Definitely has more butter than both the JN and the Family Select. A fun undertone of perfume and juicy fruit gum. Quite smooth from the start with moderate acidity (7/10) and medium bodied. Beautiful citrus notes on the palate that turn a little creamy and a little floral. Long and lingering finish. Softened nicely over two hours, can see how this will continue to gain complexity and integrate even further.
Super limited and small production bottling by Flora Springs. Total production size is 3 barrels or around 75 cases. This bottling is made in honor of Flora Komes, who inspired the founding of Flora Springs. Sourced from their own estate vineyard in Oakville and Carneros. Aged and fermented in 100% French oak for 10 months, around 70% are new. Only 50% malolactic fermentation. Great bottling that will definitely benefit with age.
