Tasting Note:March 2, 2018

Third red wine in our annual DMV South Africa wine tasting. This one was the ringer.

Mix of brick and garnet red. A touch of prunes on the nose with tomatoes, cherry liqueur and dates. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium plus body. A bit sweet on the palate with stewed berries, dark spices, raisins and touch of dark gravel. Medium to medium plus finish.

Made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, some coming from the hillside estate vineyards (25%) and the rest from valley floor vineyards in Napa Valley. Aged for 18 months in a mix of American and French oak barrels, of which 20% is new American oak.
