Tasting Note:September 28, 2018

Dark ruby red with garnet edges. Quite elegant with a punch on the nose, with notes of lavender, lilac, blackberries, wood and a touch of vanilla. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Very dry on the palate with black dried berries, cedar and black olives. Long finish.


Thirty-third wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the twenty-second red wine. This is made up of 100% Shiraz by Johan Malan with fruit from a 19 year old vineyard in Stellenbosch. Aged for 17 months in new French oak barrels. Only 46 cases produced with 36 being auctioned in 2018.
