2015 Strydom Family Wines Cape Winemakers Guild The Game Changer Cabernet Franc - Merlot
Dark mix of ruby and garnet red in appearance. Dark and tight nose showing this is still a baby with some graphite, bitter cocoa, cinnamon and black cherries. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. A touch of greenery on the attack of the palate with some dark cocoa, gravel, dark cherries and some chalkiness. Quite a bit of acidity with a long finish.
Twenty-second wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the eleventh red wine. This is made up of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot by Rianie Strydom from the Helderberg Mountains in the Stellenbosch region. Aged separately until six months prior to bottling. Only 90 cases produced with 60 being auctioned in 2018.

Price Point:$$ - Tasted at the Cape Winemakers Auction. Average bid at auction was R3,853.00 ($45.32 a bottle) a case. Highest bid was R4,000.00 ($47.05 a bottle) and lowest bid was R3,800.00 ($44.70 a bottle).
