2011 Dornier CMD

Estate: Dornier Wines

Region: Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South Africa.

Tasting Note:July 15, 2017

First of our South African line-up prepping for our trip in December. Purplish ruby red. Dark nose with purple flowers, some cocoa and black cherries. Heavy tannins (7/10) and quite a bit of acidity. Rich and very dark attack on the palate with black cherries, plums, jamminess, earthiness and spices. Full bodied with a spices and slightly bitter long finish.

The highest end bottling and inaugural vintage from Dornier Wines in Stellenbosch, made as a tribute to the founder of this estate, Christoph Modeste Dornier. This Bordeaux blend is made up of 60% Malbec, 30% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 18 months in French oak. Only 550 bottles made.
