2013 Ty Caton Vineyards Tytanium

Estate: Ty Caton Vineyards
Region: Moon Mountain District, Sonoma County, California, United States of America
Vineyard: Caton Vineyard

Tasting Note:June 23, 2017

Fourth of the blind reds for this quarter's S&E Wine Club. Theme was Chardonnays for white wine and red wines you can purchase at grocery stores. The fourth and fifth red were higher end and did not stick to the theme.

Super dark purplish ruby red. Plush nose to start with cinnamon, cloves, blackberries and a touch of other dark fruits. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and medium bodied. Lots of acidity. A touch jammy on the palate with black fruits, spices, graphite and a bit stoney. Dry and medium plus to long finish.

Very interesting red blend made up of 33% Petite Sirah, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Malbec, 14% Syrah, 5% Petit Verdot, and 5% Merlot. All the fruit within this bottling comes from the Caton Vineyard up in the Moon Mountain District in Sonoma County. Only 507 cases produced. You can tell that this wine has some high quality fruit in it but not sure it is worth $135.00 as it sells for from the winery.
