Deep garnet with some ruby hues. A little green on the nose to start with some chili. Opened up with some a little floral, chalk, damp forest floor and some leaves. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium bodied. Layers on the palate of cassis, black currants, cigar box, a little earthiness and vegetal. Long finish. Seems a touch older than an 1999.
