2014 Red Thread Red Blend

Tasting Note:February 11, 2017

Deep purplish ruby red. Rich and layered nose with dark cinnamon, a little brown sugar, bramble berries and boysenberries. A few hours in it became more floral with a little anise. Moderate tannins (6/10) and medium bodied. Black cherry attack with twigs, a little savory and baking spices. A little spicy in the medium plus finish but still a very elegant Cabernet Sauvignon dominated red blend and quite well integrated for being so young.

Inaugural vintage of a new wine brand up on Howell Mountain from Gretchen and Brian Brakesman from Summit Lake Vineyard. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petite Sirah and 15% Zinfandel. Aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak. Only 64 cases produced.
