2014 Lava Vine Knights Valley Syrah

Fourth Syrah in our California Syrah tasting.
Deep ruby red. Cinnamon on the attack of the nose with notes of cherries, spices, black pepper and olives. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium bodied. A touch floral on the palate with a some meatiness, perfume and black cherries. Medium plus to long finish.
Would love to try more, looks like Lava Vine Winery was merged with Von Strasser Winery in early 2016.

Quite savory on the nose with notes of black olives, black pepper, even a little white pepper, some more spices and smoky undertones. A touch of dark berries too. Medium tannins (6/10) with balanced acidity and medium body. Quite dry and savory on the palate with dark cherries, crushed gravel and dark spices. Decent finish that lingers for a little.
