Tasting Note:March 12, 2016

Ruby red, deep and dark core. Started off a little musty like dried mushrooms and a little earthy on the nose. Opened up to some light red fruit undertones. Quite a bit of acidity. Lots of red cherries, moderate tannins (6/10), body started thin but started beefing up a bit. Definitely seemed fuller on day two. Tannins still strong. Lots of cherries. Long and lingering, dry finish. Decanted for 2 hours. Definitely needs some more time to fully integrate.

Inaugural vintage of this new Bordeaux-styled blend from the Vilafonté Vineyards in Paarl. The name Seriously Old Dirt's name comes from the ancient soils from which the vines have been growing for the last two decades. "It is all about the dirt."
