Tasting Note:August 9, 2016

Beautiful crimson red. Classic South African funk on the nose with soft dark fruit undertones. Moderate and well integrated tannins (7/10). Great tertiary notes of earth and some greenery. Undertones of black berries and dark cherries. Full bodied and long finish.

Absolute treat to share this with our good friend Steve Distler of O'Brien Estate and Arnyca Cellars at Torc in downtown Napa. This is one of our favorite producers in South Africa, best known for producing some of the best Pinotage in the world. If you have not tried it yet, you need to look into their Bordeaux varietal bottlings such as their Cabernet Sauvignon and their Paul Sauer. This specific vintage is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot. Aged in 100% new 225 liter French Nevers for 24 months.
