2016 Flora Springs Trilogy

Producer: Flora Springs Family Estate
Region: Napa Valley, North Coast, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:January 30, 2019

Deep ruby red and clear. Dark baking spices on the nose with some anise, bitter cocoa, black currants and some dried herbal nuances. Medium to medium plus bodied with medium tannins (6/10) that hit more on the tongue. Not as big as the prior three vintages but with quite a bit of spices, herbal, chocolate, light blueberries, cassis and black cherries. Medium plus and smooth finish.

This is Flora Springs Flagship Cabernet-based blend, made up of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 6% Malbec. The 2016 vintage is aged in a mix of 87% French oak barrels and 13% American oak barrels for twenty months before bottling. Definitely not what I was expecting for a 2016 Napa Bordeaux Blend, showed more like a 2010 or 2011.
