2013 Pahlmeyer Merlot

Estate: Pahlmeyer Estate

Region: Napa Valley, North Coast, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:February 8, 2018

Seventh of our seven year vertical tonight....Scratch that the 2014 and the 2003 came out too.

Deep ruby red. Notes of vanilla, gravel, cassis and floral herbs. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. A touch of coconut on the palate with some dark cocoa, cassis, blackberries and crushed gravel. Quite dry and long finish.

Tasted at the Addy Bassin's California Barrel Tasting in 2015 and 2016, seems to be more integrated than two years ago but still packs a punch. Can definitely sense the Petit Verdot in these new vintages by Kale Anderson.

Made of 95% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. Fruit comes from the Pahlmeyer Estate and Stagecoach Vineyards. Aged in around 75% new French oak for 20 months.
