2016 Bartho Eksteen Cape Winemakers Guild Professore

Tasting Note:September 29, 2018

Medium to dark ruby red. Nice bit going on with the nose with notes of black raspberries, baking spices, brambles and lilacs. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Rounded and smooth mouthfeel with layers of vanilla, perfume, fresh twigs and blue fruits. Drying acidity with a medium plus finish.


Ninth wine in the VIP tasting lounge during the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and last still red wine. This is made up of 72% Pinotage, 17% Roobernet and 11% Nouvelle by Bartho Eksteen from the Western Cape. Aged for a total of 21 months in small oak barrels. Only 48 cases produced with 34 being auctioned in 2018.
