1998 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Bella Oaks Vineyard

Estate: Heitz Cellar
Region: Rutherford, Napa Valley, California, United States of America
Vineyard: Bella Oaks Vineyard

Tasting Note:July 5, 2017

Last of the five red wines and final of the Heitz Cellars. After tasting all three guessed that this was the oldest one.

Deep garnet red with bricking on the edges. Layered nose of toast, pepperoni, bell peppers, dirty, truffles, damp forest floor and a bit of red cherries. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus body. Red fruits on the palate with toasty and earthy notes, tree bark, spices and a touch of blue fruits. Well rounded and integrated. Long and lingering finish. Very impressed with this wet and cool vintage.

Made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Bella Oaks Vineyard in Rutherford. Aged for a total of three and a half years, of which one year was in American oak and two and a half years were in French oak.
