2011 Sanguis Out of Line

Estate: Sanguis Wine

Region: Santa Ynez Valley, Central Coast, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:April 28, 2017

Medium to deep golden yellow. Seems like it has had quite a bit of skin contact. Layered and a touch of age on the nose with honeysuckle. dark citrus, floral and woody notes. Moderate acidity (6/10) with some oaky like tannins. Dark stone fruits and tree fruits on the attack with honeycomb and a touch buttery on the mid palate. Medium bodied with a long finish.

First of the white wines tasted blind at our quarterly wine club tasting. The white wine options were either Chardonnay or Chenin Blanc, while the red wine options were Spainish Tempranillo or Cabernet Sauvignon. Only 125 cases produced. This bottling is made up of around 80%+ Chardonnay and the remaining is of Roussanne. Aged for 27 months in oak barrels, mostly used.
