2014 Elephant Seven River Rock Vineyard Syrah

Estate: Elephant Seven Winery
Region: Walla Walla Valley, Columbia Valley, Washington State, United States of America
Vineyards: River Rock Vineyard

Tasting Note:March 22, 2017

Medium ruby red. Intense nose with fresh forest floor on the attack which was then flooded with dark blueberries and dark raspberries, purple floral notes and with a smoky undertone. Even a bit of baking spices throughout. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Mix of gaminess and blueberries on the attack of the palate. Great structure with red cherries, spices and herbs. More layers of black olives as it breathes with solid dark rocks in the finish. Long and lingering finish.

Inaugural vintage for Elephant Seven Winery, this specific bottling is the River Rock Syrah made of 100% Syrah. The Syrah is sourced from the River Rock Vineyard, owned and farmed by Dana Dibble, still located in the Rocks of Milton-Freewater, Oregon. Aged for seventeen months in a mix of neutral and new French oak as well as aging on the lees the entire time. Unfiltered and only 114 cases produced.
