2015 Castelnuovo Don Bosco Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco Little Bosco

Estate: Castelnuovo Don Bosco

Region: Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy

Tasting Note:June 17, 2016

Super easy going summer red wine. Bright ruby red and looked a little lively. Has some whitish red foam too. Nose almost like grapetizier, dark red berries and a little sweet. Seems like a soda or a cider. Lots of raspberries, slightly floral. Sweet attack and some tartiness in the finish. Light bodied and shortish finish. Very pleasant and easy going, almost like fruit juice.

Very interesting varietal called Malvasia Nera. Malvasia Nera is a red varietal in Italy that covers two DOCs in Italy, Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco and Malvasia di Casorzo. Often used to make a sweet dessert wine with lots of cherry characteristics. This bottling is made exclusively for Siema Wines.
