2013 Black Ankle Vineyards Crumbling Rock

Estate: Black Ankle Vineyards

Region: North Central Piedmont, Maryland, United States of America

Tasting Note:May 27, 2016

Last red from Black Ankle. Ruby red with a purplish hue. Nose had some savory notes and a little stinky. Undertones of greenery and slightly vegetal. Attack was coated with dark fruits and a savory backbone. A little bit of vegetal notes too. Moderate tannins (6/10) with a moderate body. Very complex, rounded and enjoyable. Long and lingering finish. Very hard to decide which of their reds are the best.

Blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Cabernet Franc, 17% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot. Only 588 cases produced and aged in 85% new French oak for 18 months and left in the bottle for one year prior to release.
